Starfield's character creator is way more in-depth than we first thought

In just about every fantasy RPG game, much of the appeal is about representing yourself whether it be exaggerated or something more true to life.

Bethesda is one of the best developers when it comes to RPGs that grant the player a lot of freedom, expression as well as consequences for the in-game choices that they may make. Over the years, Bethesda fans have immersed themselves in the likes of The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Dishonored, and Deathloop to name a few and Starfield will surely be no exception.

Check out the Starfield trailer below!

While Dishonored and Deathloop do not offer character creation, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout and the upcoming Starfield will. Unfortunately, I think it’s fair to say that neither The Elder Scrolls nor Fallout offers much in terms of depth when it comes to character creation. So unless you have a particular look, it’s probably unlikely that you will be able to create an accurate version of yourself. That being said, you can still create a very extravagant or subtle fantasy avatar.

Thankfully, however, it seems that the character creator in Starfield is way more in-depth than we may have been led to believe. “Turns out the character creation is a lot more fine-grained than I thought! (Didn't notice this frame until the third rewatch...),” posted Redditor ExF-Altrue.

Just by taking a quick glance at the sliders seen in the above image, there looks to be a lot to toggle within Starfield’s character creator. So perhaps we might finally be able to create a more accurate version of ourselves with ease after all? We certainly hope so.

“This is why the Premium Edition is getting five extra days. That way we can actually start playing the game on launch day,” responded Reynzs with another Reddit user adding: “100%. Came here to say this. I will definitely need all five days.”

“I think it would honestly be a good idea for Bethesda to open up the character creator early so people can get a feel for it while offering some advertising to the game as people hype about the creation menu,” explained Its0nlyRocketScience. “If there was a way to import characters when we actually get the game, that would be helpful too.”

In related news, a Starfield fan admits that the hype for the game is ‘keeping them going through depression’ and the Reddit thread heartwarmingly rallies in support.

Starfield will be released on 6 September 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S. That’s unless you pre-order the Premium or Constellation Edition, in which case it will be 1 September.
