This Stardew Valley Mod Makes It More Like Animal Crossing

Slow the pace of your in-game days.

A new mod for Stardew Valley transforms the game to be more like Animal Crossing.

Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing players often end up comparing the two games for their similarities with farming and life simulation elements.

Functionally, however, they are quite different under the hood. Animal Crossing uses a real-time clock that corresponds to the time in the real world, while Stardew Valley plays out a full day in around 14 real minutes.

This Stardew Valley Mod Changes How Time Works

However, this mod titled Real Time Valley changes things so you can play Stardew Valley with a real-time clock, allowing you to experience the game’s days, weeks, and months at a much slower pace.

That means if it’s 2:16PM for you in real life, it’ll be 2:16PM in the game too. This will persist as you play, meaning you’re not in as much of a rush to get your chores done before the day is up.

It should mean the day always matches when you’re playing, and creates a slower pace similar to Animal Crossing where there’s less pressure to complete everything within a small timeframe.

The mod also makes a few other changes to coordinate with time, such as preventing festivals from showing up empty if you play outside of the regular time festivals appear.

It also has some functionality to help the world catch up so villagers and schedules behave correctly after loading at a later time. For example, if you load up a save, villagers will be going about their day as opposed to still being stuck in bed.

In addition to that, Real Time Valley also features a minute-accurate clock, so the time doesn’t just skip every ten minutes, helping it feel more natural.

There are a few important notes that mod creator ZeroXPatch has included to help keep you aware of how Real Time Valley works.

For starters, you’ll still need to go to sleep to grow crops. They only grow when days pass in-game, so if you don’t sleep, the days won’t advance, and crops won’t progress either.

Another thing to be aware of is that on festival days where the real time has already surpassed the festival hours, the mod may freeze the clock during festival time so that it still appears when you go there.

After the festival starts, however, the mod stops changing time until it’s over.
