Stardew Valley Monster Mash Expansion Is Perfect For Halloween

It was a graveyard smash

Stardew Valley’s new fan-made Monster Mash expansion might just be the perfect thing to install this month in time for Halloween.

You might not think of Stardew Valley as a creepy game, but it does have its share of spooky moments. From exploring the mines to venturing outside past dark, there are certain times when the game just has a creepy atmosphere.

In case you wanted to give Stardew Valley a little makeover for Halloween later this month, this new mod by Stardew modder BogWyytch is the perfect addon to try.

Bog’s Monster Mash, as it’s called, adds new variants of monsters into the mines for a bit of additional variety. Dust Sprites, for example, now have six variants with each one looking radically different from the last.

It’s worth having a look at the mod page over on NexusMods to see images of all the new variants, because it’s quite interesting to see the effort put into a mod like this.

Some variants will appear more than others depending on how rare they are, and the scale of loot has also been tweaked according to this.

While this mod only affects the monsters that appear in Pelican Town mines, BogWyytch is planning updates that bring the same treatment to the Skull Caverns, Quarry Mines, and the Volcano Dungeon.

In the future, BogWyytch will also expand Bog’s Monster Mash with more variants, including a companion mod which enhances the additions that have already been made.

Altogether, Bog’s Monster Mash might be a good mod for Stardew Valley players to download at this time of the year. With Halloween being just under four weeks away, mods will open up the potential to make the game a little spookier. Tis’ the season, after all.

This isn’t BogWyytch’s first Stardew Valley mod, either, as their mods are quite popular among the Stardew modding community. Going onto their NexusMods page also shows other re-texture mods that all follow a very similar theme. Bog’s Haunted Animals and Products, for example, may also be a great companion mod to install alongside Monster Mash.

In related news, Stardew Valley creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone confirmed last month that the game will be receiving another major update at some point in the future.

“Okay, I revealed this at the concert last night and now the cat's out of the bag, so I will confirm for everyone: There will be a Stardew Valley 1.7 update,” Barone posted on X (formerly Twitter). “No release date, no estimate. But it's happening.”
