Star Wars: The Knights Of Ren Are Actually Returning As A Genuine Threat

Ren will I see you again

Of all the missed opportunities in the Star Wars sequel trilogy (and there were so many), the way the Knights Of Ren were handled is perhaps the most heartbreaking.

Briefly alluded to in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, the Knights Of Ren are an order of dark side warriors that actually date back centuries and have a fascinating history that weaves through the rise and fall of the Jedi, the Empire, and the First Order. Not that you'd be aware of any of this from the movies.

The Knights first appear in a very brief flashback in The Force Awakens, before being completely forgotten about in The Last Jedi. Many assumed that the Knights were actually in The Last Jedi as Snoke's bodyguards, so swiftly dispatched by Kylo and Rey. But their sudden reappearance in The Rise Of Skywalker - where they were quickly killed off - confirmed otherwise.

The good news is that the Knights Of Ren are finally making their return to the Star Wars universe, where they'll actually be treated as a genuine threat rather than lightsaber fodder.

The Knights will make their appearance in Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #25 by Ethan Sacks and Paolo Vilanelli, which will see the warriors hunting down a group of bounty hunters.

It must be said that the extended media, especially the comics, have done a smashing job of exploring the motivations and history of the Knights Of Ren. In other words, if their all-to brief cameos on the sequel trilogy left you aching to learn more, Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #25 is definitely a book you'll want to pick up. Just be aware that doing so will likely make the sequel trilogy feel that much more hollow.
