News has just leaked of the cancellation of an in-development Star Wars sequel, and fans are absolutely not surprised, considering previous comments made by the CEO in charge of the project.
Star Wars fans are really going through it at the moment, because it seems everyone in charge of the franchise doesn’t give a rat's ass about it.
Well, that much is definitely true for Ubisoft at least, as Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson has just revealed that a sequel to Star Wars Outlaws has already been scrapped.
Henderson noted that the project was “very, very early into development”, and was seemingly cancelled due to the lower than expected sales of the original game.

Of course, this really shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, considering Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recently noted in a shareholders' Q&A (per IGN) that Star Wars Outlaws lower sales were due to the Star Wars branding itself.
He stated that the “brand that it belonged to was in a bit of choppy waters”, seemingly refusing to take any kind of blame for the less-than-stellar state that the game launched in.
Still, the game does have its fans (especially after it's been patched), and said fans over on r/StarWarsOutlaws aren’t too happy to hear of the sequel’s cancellation.
“And this is why I can't stand that section of Star wars fans that want to review bomb and ruin it for everyone just because they don't like something new”, commented user bathrobedaveMLR.

“Was expected but still sucks”, replied user crowtrobot2001.
“An open world game that didn't feel like a chore to play which is a rare thing these days.”
Personally, I think Yves Guillemot is full of crap.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was released just over a year after Star Wars Outlaws, and that game sold well enough that even EA were happy with its performance. Those guys are never happy with anything.

Ubisoft are to blame here, no one else. Shifting it onto the Star Wars branding is a coward’s move.
