Star Wars fans have clearly found the most controversial recast in the entire series, based on how absolutely fuming the community is at the mere mention of it…
George Lucas is a funny man. He’s the reason we have the original trilogy of Star Wars films, three films that are often considered perfect by the fan base, and yet he’s seemingly obsessed with changing things about them that nobody asked for.
Case in point, the 2004 DVD release of the original trilogy… in which Anakin’s original actor, Sebastian Shaw, is digitally replaced with the prequel trilogy’s actor Hayden Christensen.

And, well, the comments over on a thread on the r/StarWars subreddit speak for themselves.
“In the original Anakin and Obi-Wan made actual eye contact and in the updated one it's such a rush job they didn't even bother to sync Hayden with Obi-Wan he's already turning before Alex Guinness looks at him”, commented user Omnislash99999.
“I hate that. Two old friends finally "seeing" each other again and they couldn't be bothered to maintain it. Lazy lazy lazy.”
“At the very least they should re-do it with Hayden now that he's the correct age. Unburned Anakin makes sense as a ghost but why the hell would he show up as his 20-something self to his son. Who hasn't even seen that face”, replied user ClioCalliope.

“And for the love of god sync it up with the Alec Guinness footage, it drives me nuts that the eyeline is all wrong and they awkwardly look in each other's direction at different times now.”
Y’know, the eyelines not matching up is one thing, but Anakin being replaced with his younger self never made any sense to me because… how the hell is Luke supposed to even know who that is?
Dude must be looking at that scene and thinking “who’s the hot guy next to Yoda and Obi-Wan?”
