Star Wars' real reason Stormtroopers can't aim has been staring us in the face from the start

They are the worst shot

Now we know the likely reason why the Stormtroopers in Star Wars are such awful shots, and the potential reason has been staring us in the face all along.

It’s a commonly known fact that Stormtroopers are the worst shots, and handing them the iconic Star Wars Blaster Rifle is about as pointless as using an inflatable banana in a lightsaber duel with Dark Vader.

However, could there be a good reason why the elite soldiers of the Galactic Empire are such pitiful shots? Well, apparently so.

There have been several theories over the years, such as the design of a helmet having a flaw, something as simple as poor training or following orders. In truth, any one of those could be as factual as the other.

Another theory that has made the rounds is that Stormtroopers are poor shots because they’re made to hold the Blaster Rifles in their left hand. So basically, if you’re a right-handed Stormtropper, then you’re pretty much screwed.

That being said, from Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones to Episode VI - The Return of the Jedi, the vast majority of Stormtroopers are clones, so it would seem a bit of a tactical oversight for the Galactic Empire to force them to aim a weapon with their weak hand.

In Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, the Galactic Empire is no more, and instead we have the First Order.

The First Order still used Stormtroopers, but rather than exclusively using clones, they had an open recruitment policy (of sorts), hence why FN-2187, aka Finn, was able to join its military division.

Reddit user CowBoyDanIndie, explained the theory in question.

“Most Stormtroopers are right-handed, which explains why they cannot hit anything, as everyone is forced to act left-handed,” they explained. “The rare naturally left-handed Stormtroopers are the only ones who can hit anything.”

So, there you have it, there’s another theory as to why Stormtroopers are such crap shots.

If you want to indulge in Stormtroopers being totally useless, you can watch the entire Star Wars saga right now on Disney Plus.
