Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is sailing onto PlayStation, Xbox and PC later this year and while we’re all very excited to see it return, gamers are currently getting the pirate’s life elsewhere.

Black Flag first launched in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and quickly cemented itself as one of the best Assassin’s Creed games ever made.

The Resynced remake aims to faithfully recreate what made the original so special but also extend it with new gameplay mechanics, story and more.

It’s looking great so far though it is a shame it’ll be missing content on launch day.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is set for release on 9 July but in the meantime its new rival Windrose is already gearing up for its first DLC drop.

Windrose is an open-world survival game that exceeded all expectations when it launched on 14 April.

It surpassed over one million sales in just its first week and is a solid alternative to Black Flag Resynced if you’re sad the multiplayer mode was cut.

Players have been loving it so far and there have been plenty of digs at Ubisoft’s other pirate adventure game Skull And Bones, with many arguing Windrose is what that game should have been

Those enjoying it will be glad to hear that more content is on the way but only if they’re patient.

Windrose DLC Is Incoming, Some Landing Sooner Than Others

In the short term players can expect plenty of bug fixes and quality-of-life updates in the coming months, but another update will apparently add new building pieces to the game. That’s expected to launch later this week.

In the long-term though Windrose developer Kraken Express has big ambitions for the future, including entirely new biomes to explore.

The next biome players will get to see is called Ashlands, but it’s not dropping anytime soon.

A roadmap for future DLCs will be shared in the coming months but the Ashlands DLC isn’t expected for six months. That’s quite a wait, even for a game that’s a runaway success at the moment.

On the bright side you won’t have to pay to play it. It’ll be free download just like the other planned expansions.

All players can do in the meantime is wait patiently and judging from the online forums most are happy to do that. That said plenty of gamers feel like they’ve had their fill of the game already and yearn for more soon.

Fortunately Windrose’s Steam figures are looking positive. According to SteamDB the game hit an all-time peak of 222,134 when it first launched on PC and the playercount has been holding since. The last 24-hour peak clocked in at 131,447 players at the time of writing.

Hopefully Windrose’s players plan on sticking around for the long haul but a lot can change in six months, like the launch of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced…
