Star Wars fans divided over series' new creative leader

They've got just the man for the job

For years now, Kathleen Kennedy has been head of Lucasfilm, overseeing everything Star Wars, but her time is coming to an end as she prepares to step down from the role.

According to current rumours, it seems that Dave Filoni is in the lead to step in, though he would likely be co-head alongside Carrie Beck to bring us the future of Star Wars.

Personally, I think this would be a great move, as Filoni is a faithful nerd of the franchise and has brought us a lot of greatness, along with genuinely brilliant moments.

Some believe he’s so much of a Star Wars geek that his decisions could end up losing the broader audience.

Over on Reddit, after fans read this news, the opinion was split.

“Kennedy’s job isn't what Filoni actually wants to do and probably would actively keep him from what he actually likes doing,” which is making shows, as pointed out by IronVader501.

Some fans are being cautious over Filoni stepping up, with one saying, “Filoni is doing his own film that's supposedly a culmination of a bunch of the TV shows, we should wait to see how that film does IMO.”

Of course, being in charge of the entire Star Wars franchise comes with a lot of stress, and one Redditor thinks that Filoni might not even want the job.

“Considering how the fans are, they will be instantly hated for doing that job,” said ned101.

Top_Cowboy however, thinks he’s the right man for the job, noting, “He’d be well served as the “George” who helps guide the vision of others and keeps a good vibe in place while someone else handles the business operations side.”

Only time will tell on who takes on the responsibility, and whoever gets the job, we hope that the next decade is good for Star Wars.
