Skyrim with 600 mods looks just like real life and my retinas are burning

One Reddit user has compiled a list of must-have mods to make Skyrim look better than ever before, and you need to see it in action.

Surely, surely there comes a point where people start to wonder how many mods is too many. Mods are fantastic things, of course - they can transform a game completely, with some making vital fixes like making it possible to pet the dogs in Skyrim. On the other hand, you’ve got the cursed ones which transform the cat from Stray into anything from Shrek to Spyro the Dragon.

As we all know, many mods simply serve to make games look better, and so it makes perfect sense that if you stack a bunch of those together, you can make something look unreasonably good. One Reddit user has proven exactly this, by demonstrating how gorgeous Skyrim looks if you mash 600 mods into one PC-destroying package.

Before we get into it, take a look at some of our favourite wins and fails from Skyrim below.

Courtesy of u/ZonerRoamer, behold: the best that Skyrim has ever looked. According to the user, the mods include “the nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor/War, combat overhauls that make combat more like Souls games, quest overhauls and expansions, and a bunch of other stuff”.

They added: “It's incredibly stable for such a heavily modded game, although insanely GPU intensive. My 3080 can hold 60fps most of the time but drops to 45 in heavily wooded areas (at 1440p). Looking forward to getting a 4090 just to play this at 4k60.”

The good news is, if you have a PC that’s powerful enough (or you just want to watch yours combust), the user has also provided a complete list of every mod they applied so that you can try them for yourself. For obvious reasons, I won’t be writing all those out here, so be sure to take a look at their compilation and enjoy what basically looks like an entirely rebuilt game.
