The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim already gives you the chance to be a bit of a scoundrel, and this new mod is finally going to call you out on it.

The various different subquests in Skyrim tell unique stories of their own, and there isn't one that’s half as morally dubious as the Dark Brotherhood side questline.

I mean, this is the guild that’s entirely dedicated to murdered people, sometimes in cold blood, so I’d imagine that a lot of players who sign up for it already don’t have qualms with killing.

However, this new mod from Skyrim modder Perricasa might change your mind about this by making you feel guilty for your worst actions.

Tokens of the Dark Brotherhood will make you feel guilty for your actions

Tokens of the Dark Brotherhood seeks to get a more emotional response out of you when you kill members of the guild, as seen in the quest “Destroy the Dark Brotherhood!”.

Perricasa has added notes and weapons that they felt were symbolic for the character, aiming to tell more about their backstory and hopefully garnering a more emotional response to killing these characters, should you choose to do so.

It’s subtle, but it should mean that you may think twice about killing these characters.

And as we already know from playing vanilla Skyrim, many Dark Brotherhood members are just kind of there instead of having a deep backstory or connection with the rest of the narrative.

Still, if you want to try the mod you can download it from Nexus Mods now. It’s only available for PC at the moment, though this feature could come to other platforms that support modding in the future, like PlayStation and Xbox.

Bethesda Softworks

As for other Skyrim mods we’ve recently covered, you may want to check out The Island at the Edge of Nirn, an expansion which features a new island to explore, with its own new quest, locations, and characters to discover.

There’s also The Frozen Heart, a new mod adding a new fairy tale-esque kingdom to explore.

The expansion is described as “DLC-sized”, and features new puzzles, quests, and characters for you to discover.

Rather than new quests or locations, we also have mods which change up the game at its core.

For example, there’s Skyrim Revoiced, which recasts some characters with new voices performed by professional voice actors, which should allow each NPC to actually feel a lot more unique.
