Skyrim has been out for such a long time now that I’d be surprised if any player, regardless of what platform they favour, was still playing the vanilla version of the game. Whether you like updating the visuals to make them a little more 2025, or replacing Alduin with Thomas the Tank Engine (complete with sounds), there’s basically a mod out there for everything at this point.
One of my personal favourite categories of mod to install on my own saves are those that add a little more immersion or drama to what has become a very familiar setting. One of the biggest areas that breaks that immersion on the 999th playthrough is the voices of the characters who inhabit the world.
Though the voice acting in Skyrim isn’t bad by any means, the secondary and tertiary characters were voiced by a very limited pool, and they have a very limited number of lines that tend to repeat. That’s how we ended up with the “arrow to the knee” meme that became almost as famous as the game itself.
Fortunately, there’s a brand new mod in Skyrim Revoiced that looks to address that, and it’s available to download for free right now.
Skyrim Revoiced Brings A New Team Of Professional Voice Actors To The Fore

Over on Nexus Mods, Skyrim Revoiced is available to download and it’s difficult to overstate how ambitious it is. In explaining a little about why they undertook the project, and what they are hoping to achieve, the developer shared the following, “Vanilla Skyrim has good voice acting, but Bethesda only used a relatively small pool of voice actors to voice over more than a 1000 characters in Skyrim.”
“When walking through any city, it is common to hear the same voices coming from multiple characters. Skyrim Revoiced aims to change that. Thanks to the hard work of a talented team of voice actors, Skyrim Revoiced introduces 8 new voice types for 48 NPCs across Skyrim, covering over 5000+ lines of both vanilla and modded dialogue.”
Now obviously don’t expect to login and find Paarthurnax or Jarl Balgruuf speaking entirely differently. Instead, it’s the characters you meet around the world that will change for the most part, adding new colour to quests or your next visit to Whiterun.
It’s available to download right now, so why not give it a try and see if it jazzes up the journey to defeat the World Eater.
