Skyrim players stunned by incredible hidden quest after 10 years

One of Skyrim's best quests has gone undiscovered by players for over a decade.

The Elder Scrolls VI is, unfortunately, a long way off so it’s a good job that there’s still plenty of fun to be had in Skyrim over a decade after it first released.

While Starfield launched last year, it still remains Bethesda’s key focus. The Shattered Space expansion is set to land in the coming months, plus we know that several highly-requested features are on the way too including the addition of city maps. With that in mind, it’s going to be a while before The Elder Scrolls VI becomes the studio’s key focus. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, thank heavens that Skyrim is the gift that keeps on giving. Boasting stellar replayability and one of the best modding communities out there, Skyrim is just as beloved today as it was back in 2011 - and if you find yourself about to embark on a fresh playthrough, you may want to check out this hidden quest.

The Elder Scrolls VI was first announced all the way back in 2018.

Reddit user IRuinYourPrompt took to the site to ask which “hidden” or “obscure” quests they might’ve missed and, naturally, the Skyrim fandom came through with a stellar suggestion. “The East Empire Company quest given by the Guard at the Docks is one I’m sure gets overlooked,” suggested Gloomy-Helicopter113, garnering over 2,900 up votes. “I didn’t know this quest existed for a full decade,” replied Goldman250 while SadisticBuddhist added, “Same which is insane considering how hard the quest goes.”

It’s a great quest and one well worth checking out if you also haven’t stumbled across it before. Titled ‘Rise in the East’, the quest reveals that the East Empire Company is having trouble maintaining their office in Windhelm due to a group of pirates called the Blood Horkers. You guessed it. It’s up to you to shut them down and restore peace.

The quest will take you to an off-map location, which is an exciting prospect if you thought that you’d seen all that Skyrim has to offer. Off you embark on yet another playthrough.
