A Skyrim player has discovered a sneaky loot chest hidden away for 14 long years.

It should go without saying (but I’ll say it anyway) that Skyrim is the most popular entry in Bethesda’s fantasy RPG series, The Elder Scrolls.

Moreover, Skyrim is quite easily one of the most popular video games of all time, as reflected by its score of 96 on the aggregate website, Metacritic, earning it the “Must-Play” accolade.

“Play any type of character you can imagine, and do whatever you want; the legendary freedom of choice, storytelling, and adventure of The Elder Scrolls is realised like never before,” reads the description of the game. “Battle ancient dragons like you’ve never seen. As Dragonborn, learn their secrets and harness their power for yourself.”

Its popularity is why Bethesda has ported it to every console generation since Skyrim was originally released in 2011 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if Skyrim has another remaster or even a remake in the tank for a future console generation.

However, before the inevitable new release arrives, there is still plenty of fun to be had in the current version and judging by this Reddit post, plenty of discoveries too.

“I've been playing since release and I found something new,” posted Redditor Tuffsmurf. “I never knew this was here next to Ysolda’s house in Whiterun.”

“Nice, I just checked it myself. It had a boy's blue tunic, clothes iron, 10 gold, and a horker's tusk,” replied druid_king9884.

“That’s what makes Skyrim so great. You can play for years and still find new stuff,” said tobytripp2.

“No way! I'm gonna check it out now!” exclaimed MaleficentSeat87.

Hopefully, there’ll be plenty more secrets to discover by the time The Elder Scrolls VI graces us with its presence, whenever that might be.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It’s also included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription at no extra cost.
