After 14 years, a Skyrim player has added new content to the game, bringing a whole additional area.

When it comes to games that have made an impact on the video game industry, it doesn't get much more impactful than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which was originally released in 2011 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, before being ported to every console generation since.

“Skyrim reimagines and revolutionises the open-world fantasy epic, bringing to life a complete virtual world open for you to explore any way you choose,” states the synopsis. “Play any type of character you can imagine, and do whatever you want; the legendary freedom of choice, storytelling, and adventure of The Elder Scrolls is realised like never before.

“Choose from hundreds of weapons, spells, and abilities. The new character system allows you to play any way you want and define yourself through your actions. Battle ancient dragons like you’ve never seen. As Dragonborn, learn their secrets and harness their power for yourself.”

There’s a good reason why this entry in The Elder Scrolls series keeps getting re-released by Bethesda, simply put, it’s an excellent fantasy RPG that has stood the test of time.

Skyrim is one of the Best!

Whether it's embarking on epic quests offered by the main campaign, unexpected side-missions, treasure hunting or killing mythical creatures that you may or may not feel guilty about later, fans cannot get enough of Skyrim.

Another reason why Skyrim remains popular to this very day is largely thanks to the ever-vibrant modding community. Whether it's new quests, dialogue options, weapons, gear, visual and performance improvements, modders have us covered.

One such mod is called ‘Northkeep’, created by Schlitzohr, and it’s free to download and play right now via Nexusmods.

“Adds a Colovian village to the north of Cracked Tusk Keep,” the description of the mod reads. “There is an inn, a general goods store, a blacksmith, a tower that houses the guards and a shrine to the Emperor Zero and Talos and a residence for the viscount.

“The last building is not yet accessible and will be obtainable as a player house when I've added quests in a future update.

"Also adds unique dialogue for all the NPCs and 24 random scenes.”

Sadly, as is the case with most mods, ‘Northkeep’ is a PC exclusive and is not available on the console versions of Skyrim.

For the rest of us, we can play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as intended (mostly, because some mods are available on consoles) on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

It’s also included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription at no extra cost.
