Skyrim Players Learn Secret of Giants, It's Heartbreaking

Skyrim players learn the secret of the Giants, and it's unexpectedly heartbreaking with some changing how they play the game as a result.

There are many reasons why gamers would consider Skyrim to be not only one of the best entries in The Elder Scrolls series but also one of the greatest video games of all time.

For starters, it not only features a gripping main story that will keep you hooked from start to finish, but its delightful side-missions will keep you preoccupied for hours on end. Its vast land of Tamril is packed full of secrets and lore, and it has an interesting cast of characters and mythical beasts to test your combat skills.

To be honest, I could have gone on for a lot longer as to why we love Skyrim. Simply put, there’s a good reason why Bethesda has released it on every console generation since its inception in 2011 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

We’ll never tire of Skyrim

When wandering in Skyrim, there’s a good chance that you will encounter a Giant. If so, there’s a chance that you’ve either been killed or killed one of them. After all, these creatures often found escorting mammoths will attack you on sight, and to be fair, you probably react the same way too.

However, the next time you see a wandering Giant, you might want to think twice before starting a fight with them after learning this lore. That being said, if they start on you, then that’s fair game.

“I just learned about Giant lore... I've killed hundreds of them…,” said Redditor Skullduggery-9.

“Why is there nothing to warn you that Giants were once people forced to give up their minds to survive the great calamity?”

“Not a single book or line of dialogue to tell you that there's something of a human left in there. To tell you that the right thing to do is to leave them be, that their loot will never be worth it.”

The Reddit thread offered a mixed reaction

“If they don’t attack me, I don’t attack them, is the rule I generally go with in these games,” replied SuperSayianVash, making a very valid point.

“Dragonborn after slaughtering an entire clan of bandits, robbing the graves of ancient warriors, and sacrificing their closest friends to Daedric Princes: You leave that Giant alone or we're gonna have some problems, mister!” declared Weekly-Stress7585.

“I spare all Giants, except for those who terrorise trade routes,” said QueenKarma101.

“I killed two on my first play, then I stumbled across the hidden mammoth burial ground, with a Giant mourning over his dead mammoth,” revealed killerztyz. “I haven't killed a Giant in three years, not even for bounty quests.”

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It’s also included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription at no extra cost.
