'Skyrim' Player Stumbles Across New NPC Event, 10 Years Later

Skyrim never stops giving

I’ve said it before, and I expect to say it many, many more times: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s vast open world is one of gaming’s greatest creations.

It might not be the biggest, the prettiest, or even the most detailed, but it’s almost certainly one of the richest. The forests, mountains, and caves of Bethesda’s celebrated creation are rife with possibility. When you set foot in Skyrim, you feel anything could happen.

Need proof? Just take a look at some of the best Skyrim wins and fails below!

Over on the Skyrim subreddit, fans who are still playing the game 10 years on regularly share discoveries new and old. Sometimes it’s a seasoned veteran whose mind has been well and truly blown by something they’d never come across before. Sometimes it’s a brand-new player sharing their astonishment at a well-established secret or feature. Whatever the case, it’s always a delight to see.

Recently, a player by the name of RazcullUk documented a random NPC interaction that they’d never seen before despite having played the game for “years”.

Out in the wilds of Skyrim, RazcullUk came across an NPC farmer guiding a painted cow towards some nearby giants. The farmer explains the cow is a sacrifice to keep the giants off his back. If you’ve seen Skyrim giants, you’ll probably be able to sympathise.

RazcullUk opted to follow the farmer and his cow a short distance to see how the situation played out. Unfortunately for the NPC, the giants chose to beat him into the ground while the cow wandered off. Skyrim is a dangerous place to live.

Others were quick to point out that they knew about this poor chap and his cow, although it seems not everyone has had the same with them. Some users said they’ve seen the farmer leave the cow with the giants and walk away unharmed, while others remarked they had no idea such an outcome was possible. Players can of course get involved too, and simply kill the giants if they’re feeling brave, ensuring the safety of both man and cow. If that isn’t a testament to the endless possibility of Skyrim, I don’t know what is.
