The Midwood Island mod gives players a new location and more to explore in the world of Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the most popular video games of all time and to this very day, more than a decade after its initial release, it remains popular with its ever-vibrant community.

Originally released in November 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, despite having a surefire hit on its hands, I don’t think that even the folks at Bethesda could have predicted that Skyrim would still be going quite as strong as it is today. One of the main reasons that Skyrim continues to flourish is its passionate and dedicated modding community.

One mod that is worth the attention of The Elder Scrolls fans is ‘Midwood Isle’ created by a team led by DdsLedg, which as the name suggests, adds a whole new island for you to explore in Tamriel, and best of all, it's totally free to download now via Nexusmods.

“Travel to the home of the Sonmer, Midwood Isle, an island to the north-west, far outside of Tamriel’s border,” reads the description of the mod. “Discover about the Sonmer, their history and beliefs, as you face off against new enemies, solve puzzles, explore dungeons and more.” The author of the mod does mention that you will need the expansions Dawnguard, Dragonguard and Hearthfire to access Midwood Isle in the mod.

What’s more, from what I can tell from its FAQ, the 'Midwood Isle' mod is only available on PC and not consoles as there is no mention of other platforms. One of the great things about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition released in 2016 is that PlayStation and Xbox players have access to a large selection of mods, so there will at least be plenty of other community-created content to choose from.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is available now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
