A new RPG that looks like a mix of Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, and Skyrim is launching a Kickstarter campaign to raise funding.

Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley are a match made in heaven. With both belonging to the "cosy gaming" genre, their influence is found in a whole roster of other games.

Similarly, Skyrim has become one of the biggest RPGs of all time. While we're still waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6, we've seen a bunch of new RPGs come about that clearly take inspiration from it.

Developer Etherous Games released a demo for Dragon Song Tavern back in January, and now it's gearing up to bring the game to Kickstarter for additional funding.

Last week, the studio put out a statement on the upcoming Kickstarter campaign:

"Over the past year, we've poured our hearts into building this little seaside tavern - from the early prototype to the playable Steam demo that over 20,000 adventurers have already tried. It's been a joyful and hard-earned path.

"But to make the game bigger, deeper, and even more magical, we truly need your help!

Kickstarter isn't the end - it's the beginning of making this game together with you."

The announcement also reveals some of the rewards backers can get by funding the project.

Early backers will get the Early Bird Discount, while other price tiers feature rewards such as getting your name in the credits, unlocking exclusive outfits, or being able to download digital extras like an art book and soundtrack.

Dragon Song Tavern has you running a seaside tavern while trying to raise a baby dragon. It sounds like a recipe for disaster, like some kind of short-lived fantasy sitcom where all manner of chaos is let loose.

Similar to Stardew Valley, you'll spend a lot of your time growing crops, fishing, and gathering resources. But you also will be heading out on quests and fighting monsters.

Etherous has also given us a look at the two playable siblings you can choose between, but you can also create your own customisable protagonist from scratch if you'd prefer.

Dragon Song Tavern's Kickstarter campaign is expected to go live in the next few weeks, so be sure to keep an eye on the game's website for when that'll happen.
