Everyone’s favourite elderly member of the gaming community, Shirley Curry (better known, of course, as the Skyrim Grandma) has captured the hearts of, well, basically everyone since she first started playing the game on YouTube about six years ago.

The 85-year-old is a massive fan of Skyrim, and it’s easy to see why her subscribers adore her. Starting every video with “good morning, grandkids”, she’s just the kind of wholesome internet icon we need. Not deserve, but need.

Before we get into it, be sure to check out some of our favourite Skyrim wins and fails below.

Now, as reported by Game Rant, after years of producing entertaining videos, Curry has hit a major milestone - she now has over a million subscribers on her YouTube channel. In celebration of her massive achievement, YouTube have sent her a golden Play Button, which she recently showed off in a short video.

“It’s so cool to have,” she said. “I don’t know how long I’m gonna be able to keep playing, but I finally have my gold play button, so that’s pretty cool.”

Back in February this year, Curry suffered a stroke, and forgot quite a bit about how to play the game. She later revealed that Bethesda had sent her the company’s best wishes, along with a big bouquet of flowers: “I'm so proud of them,” she said at the time. “And so thrilled that they would do something like this for me.”

More recently, during a Q&A at PAX East, she was asked what she’d say to Bethesda’s director, Todd Howard, if given the chance, and she had a pretty great answer: “I’d ask him to give me a cool game, and I’d ask him to hurry up and finish The Elder Scrolls 6,” she replied. “I want to play it before I die.”

Well, you definitely can’t argue with that, and I think we can all agree that she deserves her wish to come true.
