Skyrim fans will be able to enjoy a new major expansion later this year, ahead of the wait for The Elder Scrolls 6.
The Elder Scrolls feels like one of those series that will be eternal at this point. We’ve got The Elder Scrolls 6 in the works, plus the recently remastered The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
It looks like another big Elder Scrolls expansion is still set for later this year too, and it’s one that older fans should appreciate.
Skyblivion, a mod that rebuilds the entirety of Oblivion in Skyrim, has just released a new developer diary that teases the final release, along with the reveal that it’s still set for release later this year.

Skyblivion is probably one of the most ambitious Skyrim mods in history, as it aims to completely remake everything from Oblivion. That means all towns, NPCs, quests, caves, dungeons, items, and weapons.
“While we're not in a position to provide an exact release date just yet, we remain confident that we'll meet our goal to launch this year,” the Skyblivion team says in the latest footage released.

This latest update has also confirmed a few more details about the mod that will be coming in the final release, such as the newly designed Anvil harbour, and new shops inside the town itself.
It also teases that there are more variations of the Oblivion realms, and that enemies from the original game like clannfear and spider daedra will also be added.
We’re also getting an expansion made to Sutch, the eighth city in Cyrodiil which was originally cut from Oblivion during development.
While the mod won’t give Sutch to us as a proper city with shops and residents, it’ll be an expanded set of ruins to imply the city stood here centuries ago (which is actually lore-friendly).

Skyblivion is set for release in 2025. You can follow the mod’s development by checking out the official website.
