One Hogwarts Legacy fan has identified a simple and straightforward way to completely change how you play the game, although seasoned video game players probably aren’t going to be too impressed with their suggestion.
If you played through Hogwarts Legacy and found yourself wondering why the game was too easy, there’s a pretty easy explanation for that: it’s a Harry Potter game.
Woah, hey, put the pitchforks away– I’m not trying to imply that all Harry Potter fans are incapable of playing games that are difficult.
It’s just that, well, what’s the best way to put this without upsetting anyone… Harry Potter is a franchise that’s primarily (or, at least, originally) aimed at children.

So, it stands to reason that the developers (or, probably more accurately, Warner Bros) wanted the game to be easy to complete, regardless of whether or not you enjoy screaming “67” on the school playground.
Of course, adult Harry Potter fans do exist, which explains why I’ve seen dozens of posts complaining about how the “Normal” difficulty in Hogwarts Legacy feels more like an “Easy” mode.
Also, small side note, I was going to make a joke there about how “adult Harry Potter fans” are like the inverse of juvenile Quentin Tarantino fans, but then I remembered that the Fortnite/Kill Bill crossover is now a thing that exists.

Anyway, the point is that one user over on the r/HarryPotterGame subreddit has pointed out that if you keep realising that you’re fully stocked on Wiggenweld Potions, then it may finally be time for you to change your difficulty settings from Normal to Hard.
Alright, it’s admittedly not the most mind-blowing suggestion, but the topic did result in a few interesting comments.
“I'd also recommend not getting the talents that increase their efficacy. That way you use three or so to recover health rather than one”, commented user Silver-Calendar6555.
“Also not using the unforgivable curses helps with making sure the game doesn’t get too easy. It all becomes very one-dimensional when you can one-shot everything and break through barriers without managing cooldowns and coming spells”, replied user Gryph0n22.
“Another way to up the difficulty is to not use upgrades for talents or new gear you find. And ultra hard mode is only using basic cast and perfect parry stupefy to break shields. Luckily, there’s a lot of ways to either make the game easier or harder depending on what you’re looking for!”
Funnily enough, the majority of comments in the thread seem to be from people who are already playing the game on the hardest difficulty, which makes me think that, perhaps, they should add some kind of Very Hard difficulty option in Hogwarts Legacy 2.
Or, y’know, just play Dark Souls with a mage build.
