Silent Hill is Coming to Xbox This Month, Gamers Make Microsoft Plea

A classic release makes the transition

The Silent Hill series is so closely linked to the PlayStation as a console that it's easy to forget it has never really been an exclusive game.

A lot of Silent Hill releases have been timed exclusives in some form, but they usually make their way over at some point. And it seems that we're about to add another one to that list, as leaks on the Xbox store suggest the Silent Hill 2 remake is about to make its debut on the console, and it's coming a lot sooner than you might expect.

As first reported by PureXbox, the good folks at True Achievements discovered a totally hidden Xbox store page that has a backend release date attached to it of 21 November, 2025, just 11 days away at the time of writing.

That comes a week after the news that the game had been rated by the relevant authorities in major regions (as versions of the game for alternate consoles require a separate rating in most places).

Several Ways to Buy Silent Hill 2 Available, But Fans Know What They Want

The game will be available to buy on the store in both Standard and Deluxe editions, though a specific price for the platform is yet to be confirmed just yet. As a guide, the Standard edition clocks in at £59.99 on the PlayStation (though it is also free to PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers), while the Deluxe edition is a smidge more at £69.99.

The Deluxe edition comes with some additional digital goodies, including the soundtrack, art book and Pyramid Head Mask cosmetic for James Sunderland.

Interestingly, it will also be available as part of a bundle with the already released (and very excellent) Silent Hill F, though details on the pricing for that one and whether it will be available at the same time are yet to be revealed.

Silent Hill 2 first dropped for the PS5 back in October 2024, meaning a year since release has just passed, which could be the reason for the game's sudden appearance on Xbox. That said, it did release for the PC at the same time as PlayStation, but there was likely an agreement to keep it away from their direct console competitor for a time.

Over on social media, fans reacting to the news wanted it to be known that they want the DLC as well as the base game, if and when it does arrive.

"Hopefully it has DLC included or something (and released for all platforms)," one said. "I think DLC is coming later on cause the details that were included on the backend of the Xbox listing for SH2 didn’t have any info on Born from a Wish or any other DLC other than the content of the deluxe edition," another added.

In any case, this is really good news for Xbox players, as the remake does a wonderful job of bringing the 2001 original into the modern day, and any lessening of the barriers between console is a worthwhile pursuit in our book.
