Sacha Baron Cohen has joined the MCU as an iconic Marvel villain, says an insider.

Mephisto is a demon character that shares a lot of physical traits as the devil. This iconic demon has been the adversary of many Marvel heroes since his inception in Silver Surfer issue three from 1968.

Mephisto has tormented the likes of Johnny Blaze aka Ghost Rider, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch and many more. So just from those few names alone, there are a lot of possibilities within the MCU. What’s more, other than the names we know have been featured in the MCU, Ghost Rider is yet to make his presence known, at least on the silver screen.

Sure, the character has been portrayed by Nicolas Cage in the pre-MCU movies, and then by Gabrial Luna in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.LD, but it’s rumoured the character will return on the big screen at some point.

So with all of the above in mind, the Mephisto character has many roads that can be explored. While that speculation is up in the air for the time being, it does seem likely that Borat and Ali G star Sacha Baron Cohen will step into the shoes of the infamous red demon.

As reported by Dexerto, it is believed that Mephisto could be introduced in the upcoming Marvel series, Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Furthermore, speculation also suggests that the character may appear in the Ironheart series, centring on the character Riri (played by Dominique Thorne) who was introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

However, in a recent episode of The Hot Mic Podcast, hosts Jeff Sneider and John Rocha discussed the speculation that Cohen looks set to play Mephisto in the aforementioned Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

“Last week right after the show, somebody reached out and they had some information on some specials. I think there are going to be more Werewolf by Night types of specials,” said Sneifer.

He added: “They told me that there is a Mephisto special shooting right now on the set of Agatha with Sacha Baron Cohen. It sounds like he may be doing his very own special.”

While some fans would like to see Mephisto introduced on the silver screen, a Disney Plus series has a high production quality and can also be a great way to test the waters to see if something works, before going all in. Either way, the arrival of Mephisto could spell interesting times for the MCU.
