Ryan Gosling Wants To Play Ghost Rider In The MCU

Ryan Gosling Wants To Play Ghost Rider In The MCU

Ryan Gosling is keen to bring fan-favourite Ghost Rider to life in the MCU.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is certainly in a transitional phase. The Infinity Saga is well and truly over, and phase four is struggling because of it. Don’t get me wrong, phase four has introduced us to some incredible new characters via Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Things are only set to get more crowded though. Whilst we await the reveal of the MCU’s next big bad, new heroes are set to be introduced and it’s getting harder to keep up with the immense scale of the MCU. Every actor in Hollywood wants a role, and Ryan Gosling is just one example.

Gosling recently spoke to MTV News, addressing the rumour that suggests he’s set to bring Nova to life. Gosling shut the idea down, but he did convey his interest in portraying Ghost Rider. Host Josh Horowitz revealed, “Ryan and I chatted about the Nova rumours yesterday which he said aren’t true. But this morning Ryan reached out to me to say there is one superhero he wants to play...Ghost Rider.”

Neither project is confirmed, but it’s heavily rumoured that both Nova and Ghost Rider will be joining the MCU. It’s thought that a Nova limited series could be in the works with Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada attached, and there are whispers that Stranger Things’ creators the Duffer brothers may be interested in a Ghost Rider project.

Technically, Ghost Rider has appeared in the MCU before in Marvel’s Agents of Shield. Actor Gabriel Luna (who will soon portray Tommy in HBO’s The Last of Us) brought the character to life but Marvel decided that Agents of Shield no longer fit with their canonical plans and brushed the show under the rug, so if Ghost Rider does join the MCU, it’ll certainly be a weird and unconventional debut.
