Resident Evil's next remake is the last one we expected to see

Back to its roots

It would seem as though being an OG Resident Evil fan is still paying off with Capcom already reportedly working on its next remake.

However, it is definitely not the entry we expected to see next.

Check out our review for Resident Evil 4 below!

Over the past few years, Capcom’s goal to remake some of its original Resident Evil entries has been lucrative to say the least.

With the Resident Evil 2 Remake arriving in 2019 and being a major hit for the studio, more swiftly followed with 2020’s Resident Evil 3 Remake and 2023’s Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Allowing older fans to revisit the classic horrors whilst also introducing new players to the franchise, the Japanese game maker seemingly made the right decision to focus on remakes and it seems as though it isn’t done yet.

Up until now, there has been speculation surrounding which Resident Evil title will be next to get the remake treatment.

It would make sense for it to be Resident Evil 5 considering it is next chronologically. However, some fans believe that after riding on the high of the most recent entry’s successes, it will go back and remake the original Resident Evil, or even Resident Evil 0, or Resident Evil – Code: Veronica.

However, with no confirmation from Capcom as of yet, our recent update has come courtesy of reliable Resident Evil leaker, Dusk Golem.

According to them and based on “educated speculation,” the next remake will indeed be Resident Evil 0.

Not only that but Golem believes that it will be released very soon… for the Nintendo Switch 2.

“The Switch successor is also on the cusp of being revealed, likely released this year. I think it’s highly likely that Capcom will strike a marketing deal with Nintendo on their big reimagining of Resident Evil 0,” Dusk Golem explained.

“It should make a good entry point to the franchise, the ‘Beginning of the Story,’ and a big name AAA game to release for the Switch successor launch year.

I do think Resident Evil 0 will release on everything, either at once or eventually, however.”

It is worth taking this rumour with a pinch of salt but if you are a Resident Evil fan, it would be pretty hard not to get excited over this potential release.
