Resident Evil 9 leak leaves fans torn

Will she be our Valentine?

New Resident Evil 9 rumours are making the rounds that contradict the initial speculation that came before.

Last year, Capcom announced that a new Resident Evil game is in the works and while it was not confirmed whether it would be another remake, it’s widely believed that it will be a new mainline entry in the series.

Check out the Resident Evil Village trailer below!

The previous Resident Evil 9 (currently not its official name) rumours claimed that it would be set on a remote island, and may have two stalker enemies for its two playable characters, Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine.

Leon and Jill recently teamed up in the 2023 animated movie, Resident Evil: Death Island. However, if Leon and Jill were to team up as playable characters in Resident Evil 9, it would be a huge moment for the series, because it would be the first time the pair have joined forces in a video game.

Previous speculation left many assuming that Leon and Jill would both be major playable characters but according to industry insider and leaker, Dusk Golem, one of those characters may have a more significant role than the other.

“Jill does not play any major role in Resident Evil 9; most rumours about the game are false,” posted Redditor No1PiggyOnTheBlock, sharing the information from the industry insider.

What’s more, it was previously claimed that part of Jill’s section would take place in a hospital located on the remote island. Yet, Dusk Golem also claims this information to be false.

“Didn't Golem himself give false info?” asked Brokenbullet14, to which other Redditors replied stating that others were allegedly pretending to be the well-known leaker to spread misinformation.

Dusk Golem had previously claimed that Resident Evil 9 would be released late this year or early 2026. We’ll just have to wait until Capcom makes an official announcement.

“Another day another time Capcom is treating Jill like she doesn't exist,” exclaimed Sensitive-Meat-516.

“I mean, as long as she's there, I'll be happy,” said Always_A_Dreamer556.

“I hope it’s not another Chris-centric game or story. I don’t get the obsession with him over every other protagonist. He has to be the least interesting of the bunch,” replied spideyv91.

As an obsessed Resident Evil fan, I’d love to see Jill and Leon be playable in the same game, even if it means one has a bigger role than the other. That being said, we should take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.
