Resident Evil 9 leak roasted by concerned fans

Fans of Capcom’s iconic survival horror series have raised concerns following the latest leaked information related to Resident Evil 9.

Following months of rumours, Capcom finally announced that Resident Evil 9 (currently not its official name) is in development but details on the next entry in the series have remained silent to the general public, at the time of writing.

Check out the Resident Evil Village trailer below!

Various rumours have claimed that Resident Evil 9 will take place on a creepy remote island with an abandoned hospital and research facilities, which is pretty standard for the series.

Rumours also claim that it will feature Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine, which would be the first time that the pair has featured in a video game together. Of course, we should always take unconfirmed speculation with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.

That being said, leaker of video game news and industry insider, Dusk Golem (aka AestheticGamer) claims that Resident Evil 9 will be quite the departure from the series, something that was said before Resident Evil Village was announced by Capcom in June 2020.

When talking about why it’s taking Capcom so long to reveal information about Resident Evil 9, Dusk Golem said on Twitter: “People will realise when RE9 is revealed, is the reason this game is taking so long, is because it's a big reinvention of the series, to the same level as RE4 and RE7.”

They continued: “It's not going to play just like RE7/RE8 or the remakes, it's trying new things and is very ambitious. It will almost definitely be revealed this year, so just hold tight.”

This claim from Dusk Golem has sparked a conversation with Resident Evil fans on Reddit with some roasting the upcoming game.

“It's going to be a racing game,” joked Lord_Kumatetsu with WeaponizedAcoustic adding “Need for Evil.”

“Early rumours/leaks say you play as Leon and can ride a motorcycle, so unironically there could be a wacky racing minigame,” claimed Swiperrr.

“According to Dusk Golem, RE9 will be an open-world game with a fixed camera, no puzzles, and purely stealth gameplay with no combat,” said Particular_Hand2877, which would be a HUGE departure if true.

“It’s a cooking game, and Tofu is the main character,” replied Nexus_of_Fate87. To be fair, I’d buy that if it was a budget spin-off game.

At the end of the day, there are so many rumours floating around, that some of it is bound to stick. Hopefully, the one rumour that is at least true, is that Resident Evil 9 will be announced this year because I want all the official juicy details.

We’ll keep you posted when we learn more about Resident Evil 9.
