The highly anticipated re-release of the original Red Dead Redemption is finally here and there's plenty of reasons to jump back in and play out the story of John Marston one more time, for the Old West's sake.
With how brilliant Red Dead Redemption 2 was, it's easy to forget just how epic the original game was when it released in 2010, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Set nine years after the prequel sequel, it follows John Marston as he seeks to honour the legacy of Arthur Morgan and make his own way in a cruel and unforgiving world.
As such, the upgraded edition should be the best version of the game we've seen yet, with enhancements like upgraded visuals, 60 fps, HDR support and resolutions up to 4K.

There are plenty of ways to get involved with the game, so you should be able to play it, regardless of your favourite platform.

Red Dead Redemption Debuts on Netflix
The slightly bizarre headline news around this latest release is that Red Dead Redemption is debuting on Netflix (as well as mobile) giving significantly more people access to the game than ever before. Anyone with a standard membership will be able to download and play the game, with several control options available depending on your preference.

Excitingly, owners of the PS4, Nintendo Switch, or the digital backward compatible version on Xbox One are now able to upgrade digitally for free, so you don't even have to spend any of your hard earned money.
PS4 and Switch 2 players can even pick up where they left off, with old saves able to be transferred across to this new version of the game.
Fan reaction on the Nintendo Switch has been very positive about jumping back in, with many sharing their excitement over on Facebook.
"The Switch 2 Edition of Red Dead Redemption looks absolutely amazing! Higher resolution, mouse support, and a rock-solid 60 fps," one comment read.

"I was interested before… but now I have to play it."
Another wrote" "I got this original on the Switch on day one release, fell in love with it immediately.
"Not to mention the Undead Nightmare makes you feel like you’re getting two games in one package. The Switch 2 version is a great upgrade, 60fps makes the game feel even smoother and responsive."
Time for one final score through the eyes of John Marston, we think.
