Red Dead Online, the online component of Red Dead Redemption 2, is updated on a monthly basis, with the latest update to arrive having been slammed by gamers.
As for why, well, there’s actually a couple of reasons.
The update is what you might expect for Red Dead Online, by which I mean the bare minimum.
Players can nab new cosmetics and make use of RDO$ and XP offers, more of which I’ll dive into later.

The angered sentiment concerns what this update is not.
It’s not, first of all, the new-gen update that many Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have been yearning for for years.
“Definitely will play again when you drop the update,” wrote Twitter/X user rockstationonx.
“Can y’all just give RDR2 the next-gen update already?” demanded knuckles6000.

“RDR2 on PS5 when?” echoed Yann12C.
What this update also is not is Red Dead Redemption 2’s answer to Undead Nightmare.
“If only we were living in the right timeline,” said one user, adding an Undead Nightmare II edit.
At the very least, we can only hope that the unexpected Strange Tales of the West Vol. 1 that landed earlier this year is followed up by a Vol. 2 for Halloween month.

Finally, this update isn’t anything that concerns GTA VI which is seemingly of great annoyance to many.
“Yooooo where’s GTA VI?” asked utavo97.
“GTA VI trailer three please,” wrote gtaviguides.
So what can you get up to in Red Dead Online?

Well, the current ‘Collector Bonuses’ event runs until 6 October.
Until then, you can benefit from the wavering of fast travel fees, as well as double RDO$, Role XP, and XP on the delivery of complete Collector Sets to Madam Nazar.
Free Roam Events are offering triple RDO$ and XP for finding the most collectibles in Salvage or locating the Condor Egg.
‘Hardcore Pro Series’ is the current Featured Series, and simply ranking up five times before 6 October will nab you the tan Griffith Chaps.

Reaching Level 20 as a Collector will unlock the same reward.
There’s yet another community-inspired outfit to nab from Wheeler, Rawson & Co too.
You can read the full patch notes over on the Rockstar blog.
Certainly, this update isn’t what many fans were after, but there’s plenty here to keep players busy.
