Although Arthur Morgan sits at the top of the popularity charts when it comes to Red Dead protagonists, John Marston still has a pretty dedicated fanbase.

A fanbase which will be pleased to see him return in a way they would least expect.

Check out John Marston in action in the trailer for Red Dead Redemption below!

Portrayed by Rob Wiethoff in both Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2, John Marston became a much-loved character back in 2010 as the main character in the first Red Dead Redemption entry.

Players got to take on the role of the former outlaw who, after his wife and son are taken hostage by the government in ransom for his services as a hired gun, sets out to bring justice to three former members of his gang.

Although Arthur Morgan took over as the protagonist when Red Dead Redemption 2 was released, John still played an important role in the story as a brother figure to Arthur and players even got to step back into his shoes in the game’s epilogue.

However, John or more specifically, Wiethoff is back once more and this time the beloved actor is experiencing the journey for himself.

Despite not being a gamer, Wiethoff has recently been going live on his Twitch channel to stream Red Dead Redemption to his viewers.

This must be a surreal experience indeed and fans recently took to the comments of r/reddeadredemption to share their thoughts.

“GOAT playing GOAT game,” one user said.

Another user added, “That must be so surreal if that is his first time and he recorded those lines like 15 years ago.”

It is unclear if Wiethoff will return if and when Red Dead Redemption 3 is released but as a beloved actor in the Rockstar community, there is no doubt that fans would be overjoyed if he did.

Hopefully we will find out soon.
