In the time between Grand Theft Auto V and the sixth instalment of the famed franchise, we got two new generations of the PlayStation, 28 Marvel movies, and arthritis began setting into our ancient bones.
The 13-year wait is finally nearly over, as we prepare to unleash lawless chaos across Miami with a Bonnie and Clyde-esque duo.
That will undoubtedly tie us over for years, after all, GTA 5 is still one of the most played games every day.

But outside of the GTA universe, this will top off the eight-year wait for anything to release from Rockstar Games, whose last release was Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.
However, it won't take Rockstar and Take-Two another decade to get back on the wheel, as its next game could be arriving much sooner.
Likely teed up with a plan to support GTA 6 with DLCs for the foreseeable future, Rockstar has also revealed that it intends to revive its other franchises after the massive release this November.
One of the titles hot on the list of fans is Red Dead Redemption 3, which was recently stoked by the Arthur Morgan actor, who claimed that it's 'coming'.
The timeline of their next release won't be 2034, though, as Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that the advancement in technology in the last few years should shorten development cycles significantly, even with games on the scale of GTA 6.
“I wouldn’t confuse long development cycles with a lackadaisical approach to development cycles. Everything we do is in the context of milestones, budgets, and delivery dates,” Zelnick said in an interview with The Games Business.
“Certain titles are so complex and so challenging to build, they take a long time.”
“It is possible that recent developments in technology will allow us to compress some development timelines without compromising quality, and we hope to do that.”

Already, Rockstar has proven that it can adapt and learn from its pre-existing titles to speed up development cycles, just as it has done with GTA 6 (surprisingly), as it is set to use Red Dead Redemption's best features to increase its storytelling.
Red Dead Redemption 3 isn't a shoo-in as the next 2K title, though.
Although it might be at the top of fans' wishlists, 2K’s third-person hero shooter Project Ethos is rapidly reaching its deadline, and BioShock 4 is also in development.
With hope, though, Rockstar will trade in its bazooka for an RPG, loaded with a ballistic missile that will fire us back to the Wild West before we start coughing...
