It is the end of an era for the Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App as it is officially removed by Rockstar itself.

Launched alongside the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 back in 2018, the Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App worked alongside the game by allowing players to gain easy access to some in-game stats, Arthur’s journal and more.

It also featured a handy map to keep track of Rockstar’s massive open-world and even saw some players turn off the in-game HUD in order to follow the game through the app instead.

However, it seems as though the fun is now over as Rockstar has officially removed the Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

First spotted by FulVal85 over on the GTA Forums, Rockstar had published two new articles explaining why fans could no longer find the companion app.

The articles were titled “Unable to find the Red Dead Redemption 2 Official Companion App on the Apple App Store/Google Play Store” and simply stated the following:

“The Red Dead Redemption 2 Official Companion App is no longer being offered on the Apple App Store & Google Play Store as of August 19, 2025.”

With no further explanation, fans are wondering what this could mean.

Was the app removed due to lack of interaction or does it hint at a next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2 being announced soon?

Although the app will still be accessible to those who already own it, it will no longer be able to be downloaded for new users and fans have been sharing their theories over the past few days.

“Could be related to the new versions coming out and Rockstar likely not wanting to maintain it anymore,” one user suggested.

However, another fan had a different suggestion.

“The app’s been abandoned for a long time. Pretty sure they never even added support for the PC version,” they said.

It remains to be seen why Rockstar has decided to remove the The Red Dead Redemption 2 Official Companion App but with some players still relying on it, it is definitely sad to see it go.
