At long last, Rockstar has stepped away from development for GTA VI for two seconds to add some brand-new content to Red Dead Online - and it's content that appears to be teasing the imminent arrival of Undead Nightmare 2.

As beloved as Red Dead Redemption 2 is, one issue that players have run into over the years is its lack of extra content since it was first released back in 2018.

Of course, Rockstar added its Red Dead Online multiplayer component but even that has struggled when it comes to regular updates, especially compared to Grand Theft Auto Online which has been the studio’s baby over the years.

However, Rockstar Games has surprised fans this week by announcing a series of brand-new missions which will be added to Red Dead Online.

The missions will have character Theodore Levin at the helm and it is he who will ask players to uncover a series of mysteries in the West which just so happen to include some undead beasts.

That sounds a lot like a set up to some new Undead Nightmare content.

“New Red Dead Online content coming tomorrow as part of the event month, announced in a community email,” Twitter user videotechuk_ shared.

Strange Tales of the West will feature a set of new Telegram missions where book author Theodore Levin needs help investigating “bizarre and unexplained” mysteries.

"Players will be tasked with tracking down beasts in the waters of Bayou Nwa and undead plagues.”

“A new set of four eerie Telegram Missions available tomorrow in Red Dead Online,” reads Rockstar’s official blog post.

“Track down undead plagues, rogue automations, swamp beasts, and more by collecting Mr. Levin’s letter from any Post Office or your Camp’s Lockbox, or by launching Telegram Missions from the Player Menu.”

Undead plagues?! Rockstar, you know exactly what you're doing right now.

Could this be a lead-up to an Undead Nightmares sequel for Halloween? Does Red Dead Redemption 2's rumoured new-gen update feature an Undead mode?

It's hard to say; Worst case scenario, this may be the closest we will get to an Undead Nightmare DLC in Red Dead Online so make sure to log back in and celebrate.
