Red Dead Redemption 2 has just been ported to phone, and what’s even more surprising is it runs better than on console.
Next-gen upgrades for Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 have been rumoured for a while, but I bet you weren’t counting on the game coming to mobile before then.
YouTube channel RGB Tech Official has shared a 10 minute video demonstrating Red Dead Redemption 2 running on a mobile phone.
More specifically, it’s running on a Snapdragon 8 Elite phone powered by Android, using GameHub Lite to emulate a PC.

It requires a bit of technical know-how, but using GameHub Lite and installing some components to get it running custom drivers and Steam, RGB Tech was able to get Red Dead Redemption 2 to boot up.
Turning every graphics setting down to Low, and then running the game at 720p resolution and Medium TAA, the game was able to run at just over 30 FPS.
The framerate varied depending on what was happening in-game during each moment, but RGB Tech’s average FPS ended up being around 35, just a little higher than what you can get on PS4 Pro or Xbox One X.
It’s incredibly impressive, but considering the power of modern mobile phones—which are capable of running huge AAA games like Death Stranding or Resident Evil 4—it’s quite obvious that this is something that could run rather easily on a phone.
Still, it’s brought up a bit of a debate regarding the game’s status on current-gen consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

“People figured this out right when the PS5 dropped that it would take a less than 400mb update to make RDR2 run at 60fps on PS5,” reads one comment underneath a post on X (formerly Twitter).
“I’m still waiting for the PS5 version, I’ve already played the game 7 times,” reads another comment.
Rumours of a next-gen Red Dead Redemption 2 port have swirled around for a while now, but nothing concrete has been confirmed by Rockstar Games just yet. With the developer set to release GTA VI later this year, I’d imagine it’s currently prioritising that.
