Rockstar Games is trying to sweep that second Grand Theft Auto VI delay under the carpet, and it's doing so by dropping a new-gen port of Red Dead Redemption.
That's right. Red Dead Redemption will be natively launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S next month, on 4 December to be exact.
That's far from all as the game will also be coming to Android, iOS, Netflix, and Nintendo Switch 2 - the latter being particularly exciting.

Please note that I'm talking about Red Dead Redemption, not Red Dead Redemption 2; we're still waiting on a new-gen port on that one but perhaps this confirmed release suggests it's only a matter of time.
Of course, PlayStation and Xbox players have been able to enjoy Red Dead Redemption for quite some time, but this new port will allow them to do so natively on new-gen consoles which means you'll benefit from some new bells and whistles.
60fps is one benefit of the port
That includes a 60fps boost, enhanced image quality, HDR support, and up to 4K resolutions.

As for the Nintendo Switch 2 version, there's support for DLSS, HDR, mouse controls, with a 60fps rate also supported.
To create these ports, Rockstar Games worked alongside Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games - and perhaps the best news of all is that the upgrade is totally free if you own Red Dead Redemption on previous-gen consoles.
"Current owners on PS4, Nintendo Switch, or the digital backward compatible version on Xbox One will be able to upgrade digitally for free," reads a blogpost by Rockstar.
"Anyone who owns the PS4 version can utilise previous PS4 save data to pick up where they left off, and Switch 2 players can continue with their previous save data from the previous Nintendo Switch console."

As for the mobile release, Rockstar said, "More players than ever before will be able to experience these classics and take Marston’s journey with them wherever they go with Red Dead Redemption’s debut on compatible iOS and Android devices — which includes mobile-friendly control options. Netflix members will also be able to download and play these versions on December 2 as part of their subscription."
Yes, that means if you have a Netflix subscription you can play the game for free.
The new version of the acclaimed action-adventure title includes the fan-favourite Undead Nightmare DLC, so you don't have to worry about that going anywhere.

Bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition will also return.
It won't exactly make us forget GTA VI's delay but it certainly helps. I guess it's time for a fresh Red Dead Redemption playthrough next month then, huh?
