Red Dead Redemption 2 Hidden Gameplay Feature Is Blowing Our Minds

A Red Dead Redemption 2 player discovers a gameplay feature that many of us may have missed.

Released in 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (the following year on PC), Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time, as reflected by its score of 97 on the aggregate website, Metacritic.

Despite the number in its title, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to the 2010 game starring John Marston, which was originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

“Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are outlaws on the run,” reads the synopsis of Red Dead Redemption 2.

“With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive.”

So what is this gameplay feature that has been discovered by a player, I hear you ask? Well, it’s something as simple as Arthur being able to point his gun down over balcony-like structures.

“I never realised we could do this,” exclaimed Redditor meenzerloewe. “Did anybody else know?”

“What? How does one do this?” asked Aware_Rhubarb4006, in response.

“Take cover, and press the aim button. Move the mouse/stick slightly towards the fence,” explained meenzerloewe.

“I only knew the pistol one. The rifle one looks so stupid,” said LimpFishing3062.

No doubt, players will still be discovering new features and secrets for years to come. Hopefully, until the yet-to-be-announced Red Dead Redemption 3 arrives, whenever that time might be.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is backwards compatible on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but sadly features no major new-gen improvements. But it’s still an amazing game, nonetheless.

As for the next title from Rockstar Games, that will be GTA VI, which has a release date of 26 May 2026, unless it suffers a delay.
