Red Dead Redemption 2 players know all too well the importance of money in Rockstar’s open-world games.
Cash is basically the antagonist of Red Dead Redemption 2’s entire story and several characters fall to its influence, making for an emotional tale gamers wont ever forget. For those who want to completely ignore the cautionary tale of the game’s story modem though, you're in luck.
A fan-made expansion mod exists that’ll grant you a new way to earn money in-game. And how do you earn money exactly? Kidnapping people. Ahem.
When Red Dead Redemption 2 came out you couldn’t move for videos of players abusing the game’s rope and hog-tie mechanic. NPCs ran in terror as we rode up behind them, lasso in hand, and cut-off their escape with just a few well-tied knots.

Some particularly freaky individuals dumped the NPCs on train tracks or dragged them across fields with their horses, it got pretty dark.
Now this mod, simply titled Random People, adds a bit more depth to that mechanic as the NPCs you next lasso can be sold off for random to whoever wants to buy their freedom.
Dutch continuously rants at Arthur about how much the Van der Linde gang needs money and now you can finance the camp in the most sadistic way possible, not that Dutch would or Micah would mind.

In gameplay once you’ve hog-tied someone you can carry them to your horse and begin a ransom encounter. The game will give you eight locations, prompting you to ride to one of them to drop off your captive and collect your cash.
Afterwards you’ll be hunted by the local authorities, but so many years after the game first launched I’m sure we’re all great at evading bounty hunters by now.
There’s not much else to say about the mod other than that, but if you’re interested in challenging yourself further there’s another mod that I think would pair well with this one.
It’s a mod that overhauls the way bounty hunters work in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, allowing players to customise how many come after you at one given time as well as how frequently they spawn in.

The idea is they’re more likely to catch you off-guard, so I think it’d pair well with the Ransom People mod as imagine arriving at your drop-off point only to be met with 10 bounty hunters waiting around the corner for you.
