Red Dead Redemption 2 'alternate ending' leaves fans stunned

Fans on Reddit are loving this fan-made alternate ending which sees Arthur Morgan return at the end of the epilogue.

Spoiler warning: this article contains big spoilers for Red Dead Redemption 2 - scroll with caution.

There are very few people out there who would argue that Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn’t have one of the best stories in gaming. Given that it’s a prequel to the first game in the series, everyone already knew how some things were going to end up playing out, but that didn’t make the experience any less breathtaking.

One part that’s basically guaranteed to make anyone emotional is protagonist Arthur Morgan’s death. Regardless of how you play the game - whether Arthur is the most honourable guy around or a very unpleasant person, there’s no way to save him. He’ll either die due to his illness, or he’s killed by Micah. Ouch. Over on Reddit though, one fan has created an entirely new ending which many are in love with.

Before we get into it, take a look at some of the funniest wins and fails from Red Dead Redemption 2 below.

As Game Rant reports, the fan-made ending, posted to Reddit by Georgian_Shark, sees Arthur emerge from the hut from the end of the epilogue, implying that he somehow faked his death. While admittedly, this wouldn’t make the most sense in the world, it’s so well made that it’s winning fans over.

“Damn, a 10 second masterpiece. This is great, really disturbing in a ‘Let's make an insanely dystopian ending where we find out Arthur managed to fake TB, lived and recovered after being beaten nearly to death, caught up with and killed Dutch - or is in cahoots with him - and then this happened’ sort of way,” Hiply wrote. “That’d be dope if this was the max negative karma ending,” commented Gamefreek324. “I would have jumped off my couch,” added GreenMonster81.

Again, this isn't real, but it's certainly a more pleasant ending for Arthur. Hopefully, the series' next protagonist won't have such a gloomy fate.
