'PS5 Slim' appears online, leaves fans disappointed

Sony fans were feeling excited when a ‘PS5 Slim’ appeared online but were left disappointed.

Sony fans were feeling excited when a ‘PS5 Slim’ appeared online, but that excitement soon turned into disappointment.

As reported by Dexerto, the Australian retailer The Good Guys quickly became the bad guys when an error was seemingly mistyped into believing that the much-rumoured PlayStation 5 Slim was on the way.

“The new look, slimmer PlayStation 5 – incredibly vivid, vibrant colours with breathtaking HDR visuals and immersion – whether you’re gaming or streaming movies and TV shows,” read a product listing on the retailer's website.

Of course, this sent Sony fans wild believing that this retailer had let slip early that PS5 Slim consoles will be up for pre-order. After all, this wouldn't be the first time that a retailer has apparently leaked information before an official announcement was made.

Sadly, as it turns out, this was just some kind of weird typo. The Twitter user NightFlyer mentioned in a tweet that this listing was initially from 2021 and was in fact referring to the PS4 Slim. For whatever reason, the 4 was changed to a 5.

Back in June 2022, reports were making the rounds that the PS5 Slim will be half the size of the original console. However, reports of a slimmer model might seem conflicting with talk of a PS5 Pro.

Surely, if the Pro console is to be more powerful, it would likely be a larger system. That’s unless Sony is working on a PlayStation 5 Slim and Pro, but that’s mere speculation on our part.

What’s more, previous rumours have suggested that the PlayStation 5 Pro could be priced between £600 to £700 with an insider claiming that this is “just the beginning of new hardware coming to PlayStation users this generation.”

At this time, we should take all rumours with a pinch of salt, until proven otherwise. That being said, as history dictates from the PS1 era, we know that a PlayStation 5 Slim is inevitable and a PS5 Pro is likely. The only thing we don't know for sure is when they might arrive.
