Having read that title, you may be wondering “which one?”

Lately, PlayStation has done a swell job of winding up its fandom, resulting in a lot of backlash for several reasons.

Firstly, people were upset at the disappointing PlayStation Plus free games for February.

Then came the news that a major update was going to be implemented for all PS Plus users come 2026.

Not everyone is displeased with this particular development, however, the PlayStation community is far from in agreement that it’s a beneficial decision.

As annoyed as you may be, you've got to admit that PlayStation's Midnight Black collection looks beautiful.

Lastly, a surprise alternative free game has further exacerbated this tumultuous time.

One shining beacon throughout all this chaos has been the return of the classic themes created to celebrate PlayStation’s 30th anniversary.

Like many other users out there, I’ve become used to the old PS1 sound playing when starting my console.

Despite Sony taking note of its huge success with its audience, the feature won’t be staying.

On X, PlayStation posted, “Thank you for the fantastic response to the classic PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PS4 limited-time console themes, which will be leaving tomorrow.

“Due to the positive response on these four themes, we’re doing some work behind the scenes to bring these special designs back in the future.”

Sounds promising, yet there’s a sting to this positivity.

In a second post, the publisher added, “While there aren’t plans to create additional themes in the future, we're excited to keep celebrating legacy PlayStation hardware with you all.”

You probably can already guess at how ticked off fans are.

“Huge L, themes are a big selling point on PS4 and PS3 and PSP. And it’s a shame to let them go now,” argued @JayCee_Squared.

I have to say, I'm surprised additional themes haven't been brought back like those we saw on consoles of yesteryear.

Whether Sony changes its stance going forwards remains to be seen, though our expectations are low.
