The wonderful world of Pokémon extends far beyond the medium of video games, and it’s about to become a real-life experience.
We’ve seen Pokémon escape the Nintendo GameBoy to become a highly-successful anime, animated/live-action films, and of course all the merchandise we could ever want, though the newly announced LEGO sets haven’t been everyone’s cup of tea.
In the coming years though the Pokémon Company wants to bring the magic of its digital world into real-life. No, bot Pokepark Kanto (although I can't wait for that). It's been announced that Universal Studios will be its host.
The official Universal Studios account announced yesterday that a new experience will launch in its parks in the years to come, starting with Universal Studios Japan.

First Details Are Sparse, But This Has Us Excited
It teased a “hyper-realistic experience that stimulates all five senses,” that aims to adapt the world of Pokémon in an “unprecedentedly interactive and rich way.”
No further details were given but this alone has us excited.
Though I can't lie, the “all five senses” bit sounds weirdly ominous… I can't imagine Lumiose City smells all that good with the amount of Trubbish I've seen on the streets.
The experience is apparently preparing for its debut in Japan now, but no launch date was given.

As I’m sure we all know Universal Studios is also the home to Super Nintendo World, meaning in a few years it’ll well and truly be a hotspot for video game lovers from around the world.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Hello it's Sara here! I have to jump in and say I've literally just come back from Universal Studio's Japan, and I can't believe I'm going to have to book another flight out there.
A very fun day trip, though be warned, the queues are no joke. I waited two hours for this awful picture of me on the new Donkey Kong ride, and so if you DO decide to go, you should look at getting there before the park opens, at around 8am. Free life hack for you!

Like Super Nintendo World I’d imagine the new Pokémon experience will find its feet in Japan before being rolled out to the other parks like those in the U.S. There’s even a Universal Studios planned for the U.K, which is very exciting for us.
But Wait, There’s More…
This new experience is just one of two that have been announced over the last few months as well. Also in Japan, residents and visitors will be in with a chance of visiting PokéPark Kanto, which opens in Tokyo in just a few weeks.
While not being as large-scale as Universal Studios it’s being advertised as yet another magical experience for Pokémon fans, but a popular one at that. Tickets are on a first-come first-serve basis but if you can make your way in you’ll get access to exclusive merch and a number of smaller attractions/displays.
It’s a good year to be a Pokémon fan then, but don’t book your ticket for Universal Studios just yet as I can’t imagine it’s new extension will be ready this year.
