Yesterday saw The Lego Group and The Pokémon Company International announce an exciting new collaboration which will see the first ever sets dedicated to our favourite monster-catching franchise.
Featuring some of the most iconic Pokémon from Gen 1 (of course), “the first LEGO Pokémon sets allow fans to build and display their favorite Pokémon in LEGO brick form”, according to LEGO's official blog post.
Set to launch on 27 February 2026, the LEGO Pokémon sets will feature Pikachu, Eevee, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise recreated in LEGO form. Better yet, they are available to pre-order now.
The Pikachu set will see our favourite yellow friend arrive alongside a Poké ball, which they can be posed to be jumping out of, ready for battle.

The issue is... Pikachu is low-key chopped. Pokémon fans were quick to share their opinion online.
What Are the Pokémon LEGO sets?
Featuring 2,050 pieces, the Pikachu set also arrives alongside an Easter egg for all of the biggest fans out there: a “25” displayed on the base, representing Pikachu’s Pokédex number.

The Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set will be combined to make one of the biggest LEGO sets ever.
Made up of over 6,838-pieces, this set features three Kanto first partner Pokémon evolutions and can be displayed individually or together.
Last but not least, the adorable Eevee consists of just 587 pieces and features her expressive face, and moveable head, tail and limbs, allowing builders to pose her as they wish.
Additionally, customers who pre-order the LEGO Pokémon Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise set before 27 February will receive the LEGO Pokémon Kanto Region Badge Collection for free within the US, CA, and UK.

An Eye-Watering Price
All of this sounds great, but the main fan backlash has come from the price.
The Pikachu model comes in at £179.00 whilst the Eevee set is the cheapest at £54.99.

However, the Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set will come in at a whopping £579.99 and of course, if you want the free Kanto badges, this is the one that you will have to pre-order.
Following the news of all of the sets and their prices, Pokémon fans took to social media to share their thoughts and it seems pretty divisive.
“This is so embarrassing to watch,” one user shared over on Twitter in response to the marketing ad for the LEGO kits.
“The marketing towards adults with disposable income who don't really give a s**t about Pokémon anymore but hey, remember Charizard??

“It’s so out of touch with the adult audience and this feels geared towards nostalgia swamped millennial scalpers who treat these creatures like a stock market.
“These will sell like crazy obviously, but the ad feels like such a strange mockery of adult fans.”
Another user was shocked to hear the prices.
“$650?! Yeah I'll take the 8,000 piece Minas Tirith set instead.
“I absolutely love LEGO but these prices are getting wild.”
Another agreed, adding, “You could buy a PS5 Pro, a couple of games and get takeout for this price.”
Personally - I think the Charizard and Blastoise look pretty cool.
With pre-orders now open, these LEGO sets will definitely be an investment, but we can only imagine the chaos when resellers get their hands on them…
