Given all of the hubbub around The Game Awards, you should absolutely be forgiven for not being able to keep up with every that has happened over the last few days in the world of video games and beyond.
The big announcements from the night include two new Star Wars games, two Tomb Raider games, confirmation of the next Divinity release from Larian studios and the return of Mega Man after all this time.
On the awards side of things, Clair Obscur was the big winner of the night, taking home eight prizes, including the coveted Game of the Year nod in what was essentially a clean sweep.
Before all of that happened, away from the anticipation and hype surrounding the ceremony, Nintendo confirmed that they'd be dropping some limited time freebies that Pokémon players will want to get their hands on.

Pokémon Legends Z-A Can Get Platinum Points and Icon Elements
Over on X, Nintendo of America shared an update that will likely come as quite exciting news to players who like to keep as much of their hard earned money as possible in their accounts.
"Nintendo Switch Online members can earn 100 #MyNintendo Platinum Points and unlock themed icon elements by playing #PokmonLegendsZA until Jan 4 at 5pm PT," the post reads.
If you haven't done it before, it can be a little convoluted to get the points in your account, but you don't really have to do too much once you know how it all works.
Essentially, head to the Missions & Rewards section of the Nintendo Switch Online app on your Nintendo Switch.
There you'll find a list of missions, which in this case includes playing Pokémon Legends Z-A
After you have met the requirements, head back to the same page and click the quest to claim your Platinum Points.
Those quests have turned the conversation in an interesting direction amongst the community, with many thinking that it's finally time for Nintendo to join the achievement train with PlayStation and Xbox.
"Imagine if Nintendo ACTUALLY did an achievement/trophy system. Even for NSO games. People would go CRAZY!" one comment read.
Whatever does happen in the long term, it's always nice to get some additional free stuff, purely for doing what were were already planning to anyway. Given that these opportunities don't come along too often for Pokémon, make sure you don't miss out before it goes away in January.
