After Sony rightfully postponed its PlayStation 5 reveal event this week - in light of the ongoing unrest in the United States and Black Lives Matter protests around the world following the murder of George Floyd - a new update has given us the very briefest information on when to expect our first look at the new console.
The long-awaited reveal of the console and a host of games in development for it was supposed to happen today, June 4th. Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO, Jim Ryan, had promised that we'd get a "first look at the games you'll be playing after PlayStation 5 launches, this holiday".
He added, when the reveal event was initially announced: "The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe. Studios, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware."

Naturally, none of us mind waiting a little longer for that peek at the future of PlayStation. But now, we've the tiniest update from Sony on when the rescheduled PS5 event will be. Are you strapped in? Because this, this is a big one.
Sony states: "We'll be in touch with a new date soon."
That little nugget of information was spotted by Push Square, and was published in the updated description on the reveal event preview video, on YouTube (and embedded above). It's not much! But it is something. Some thing, is what it is. Truly. No rush, really. We can wait.

While we're yet to see the PS5, we have had a good look at the console's new controller, the DualSense. Sony reckons it's going to give players "a new feeling of immersion", thanks to its haptic feedback.
Sony's not alone in postponing its activity, in the here and now. CD Projekt Red has moved its Night City stream for Cyberpunk 2077 from June 11th to later this month; and Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been paused by Activision because "now is not the time".
Inevitably, some people who like to play video games are vocally pissed at these delays, and have said as much on social media, and across our channels. But those same people, who lack a sense of perspective, can also put themselves in the bin.
