The PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium titles for December have been revealed, filling out the offering with a couple of corkers.

Of course, the Essential line-up comprises Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Biomutant and Divine Knockout and these became available to download from 6 December if you haven't gotten round to it yet. These are an enviable bunch, and with even more coming over the hill, it's feeling like Christmas has come early for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

I'll kick things off with the ones that I know our team are delighted to see show up in the Extra and Premium Game Catalog. Yakuza: Like a Dragon was one of our favourite games of 2020, knocking our socks off with an excellent story, great visuals and a commitment to the unwavering drama of the series. Never played a Yakuza game? No matter, as it's approachable for newcomers and refreshing for stalwart players.

There's also Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and Judgment to be scooped from the new Extra and Premium offering. Now you've got no excuse to dive into Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's games.

Three Far Cry games are available - Far Cry 5, Far Cry New Dawn and Far Cry Primal. Objectively, Primal is probably the best out of that three, and no, the fact that you can tame and pet sabretooth tigers did not inform my choice. Not at all.

However, those searching for a more fantastical way to spend their free time will be contented with Mortal Shell, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-Earth: Shadow of War. With the two The Lord of the Rings games, you know what you're mainly getting into, but Mortal Shell is a admirable Soulslike that might have slipped past you in favour of more bombastic offerings in the genre. Plus, if you don't gel with it, then you haven't lost anything, other than perhaps your pride after dying seventeen times too many.

The rest of the games are rounded out with WWE 2K22, Adventure Time Pirates of the Enchiridion, Ben 10: Power Trip, Gigantosaurus The Game, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire – Ultimate Edition, Worms W.M.D and The Escapists 2.

All of the above are available to claim from 20 December, bar WWE 2K22, which will arrive on 3 January, 2022.
