PlayStation Plus fans are upgrading to Premium to get hold of December's 'pleasantly surprising' free game.

For those who don't know, Sony's PlayStation Plus enables gamers to access free titles, regardless of the tier you choose.

There are three subscriptions on offer: Essential, Extra, and Premium. The premise is simple - the higher the tier, the more games you'll be able to play.

This December, Premium fans were treated to a number of incredible titles, but one game in particular has proven popular.

"Been pleasantly surprised by AC Mirage," one gamer shared on Reddit. "The game wasn’t even on my radar, and I was kind of done with the AC series after how much I disliked Valhalla.

"Mirage feels like it is back to the roots of what made AC fun to begin with. It is an actual stealth game and not just mindless open-world slaughter. So far my favourite of this month’s games."

Another agreed, "I received it as a gift for my birthday, since I didn't even consider getting it - I really enjoyed it and ended getting platinum for it."

"For me it was the best AC since Black Flag," a third added. "More streamlined, less open world. That best fits my taste."
