After Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 made quite an impact when it was released last October, PlayStation is giving those who missed out on the web-slinging adventure a chance to download it for free right now.

Released in 2023 as a direct sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 by Insomniac Games went on to be nominated for Game of the Year thanks to its epic traversal, story and content.

Now a few months on and the hype somewhat died down, PlayStation is giving its Plus Premium members the chance to download and try out for free courtesy of its game trial system. Alongside titles such as The Last of Us Part 1, Baldur’s Gate 3, Hogwarts Legacy, Alan Wake 2 and Mortal Kombat 1, the Spider-Man sequel is also up for grabs.

Those who wish to check out the free trial will get access to the full game for up to two hours. Although this seems like a short amount of time, you will be able to explore all areas of the game including the main story, side quests and of course, swinging through the cityscape of New York. With the game costing £69.99, this gives players the perfect opportunity to try before they buy.

In our review for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, our very own Ewan Moore called it an “amazing fantasy”, praising its ambitious boss battles, stunning setpieces and significant improvements to combat. “This is an amazing fantasy come to life and realised like never before,” he wrote. “Insomniac Games has crafted yet another heartfelt Spider-Man story bursting with twists, turns, and show-stopping spectacle.

In related news, an update to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 recently made an unexpected change that players have been begging for. For fans of Spider-Man in all his iterations, this update added a bit more realism to the web-slinging hero.
