The release of Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake is right around the corner, on 24 March to be exact, but did you know that you can actually sample the game now ahead of release? Oh and did I add that it’s completely free of charge? That’s right. Capcom have released a juicy demo for all to try out.

Resident Evil 4 is one of the greatest games of all time so it’s no surprise that there’s so much hype surrounding the much-anticipated remake. That hype was slightly dulled this week when US store GameStop announced that all in-store pre-orders of the game’s collector’s edition had been cancelled but last night’s Capcom Spotlight arrived just in time to get everyone excited again. The remake is said to cut one of the original game’s best moments but it’ll also tone down QTEs and I think the latter will be a relief to fans. Let’s get back to that demo though.

Check out the trailer for the Resident Evil 4 remake below.

It was suspected that a demo may be on the way and now we know that’s true. The Resident Evil 4 demo is available to download for free right now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. There’s no demo for you Xbox One folk because Capcom have opted not to release the game on that platform, despite offering a PS4 version. The demo is called the ‘Chainsaw Demo’ and can be nabbed from each console’s respective store.

As reported by Kotaku, the demo won’t have a time limit like several previous Resident Evil demos so you can play it as much as you want. The demo is set near the beginning of Resident Evil 4 where you’ll find Leon entering a mysterious village. Seeing as it’s called ‘Chainsaw Demo’, yes, it involves a chainsaw. If you know, you know.

In case you missed it, fans are already simping over new-gen Leon. In fact, they have been ever since the remake was announced. That being said, I can’t say I particularly blame them. Simp away.
