A new RPG for Xbox

If you are waiting the endless wait for Fallout 5, then you’ll be pleased to know you can play another post-apocalyptic open-world RPG, for free via Xbox Game Pass, to tide you over.

You’ll soon be able to play STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl which is a violent romp through the irradiated wasteland where all kinds of horrid beasties - including us humans - await.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is coming to Xbox Game Pass later today

When we went hands-on at a preview event we said of the newest instalment of the franchise, “[It’s] a thrilling experience that deserves its place on the world’s stage.”

While my review is still a way out, I can only agree with Kate’s thoughts in her preview.

I think players are going to love exploring the world, even if it’s mostly filled with things wanting to end your life in gruesome ways.

There’s a lot to love if you’re in need of something like Fallout. While there’s no early 20th-century aesthetics, the world is filled with character in its dilapidated state.

Plus, the action is chaotic and grueling, juggling a variety of weapons and dodging spooky creatures who don’t just use teeth and claws to get at you.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is also stunning to look at. The fidelity of the visuals feels like witchcraft at points and it will truly show off what the Xbox Series consoles can do.

The game comes to Xbox Game Pass on 20 November and you can begin installation now - you’ll want to, it’s a hefty download.

Joining this wasteland adventure are several other games, including Nine Sols, a MetroidVania with brutal difficulty; Aliens: Dark Descent which uses XCOM-style mechanics; and if you prefer something cheery, Little Kitty Big City.

It’s a big month for Xbox Game Pass and players are eating well with this selection of games.
